If you are an employee having a provident fund, it is your right to know your PF balance and also get it back when you leave your job. Still, many people don’t know their rights and they often forfeit their hard-earned money. Please beware that as a provident fund subscriber, you can now access your account statements on EPFO’s e-Passbook service – a free service offered by the Government of India.
All you need to do is activate your Universal Account Number (UAN) which is available in your payslip (if your employer doesn’t include this UAN, ask them). After entering your UAN, you can download your e-Passbook every month.
Now, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to download your EPF Passbook Online
1. First go to the EPFO website: http://epfindia.gov.in/site_en/For_Employees.php?
2. Now select >Member Passbook option
3. Enter your Log in and password. Your login will be your activated UAN number and the password that you have chosen. After you enter your details, you will be able to view your EPF passbook.
4. Select your EPF passbook bar to download your EPF passbook.
As a registered member of EPFO, you can register on the portal by using your photo identification number like PAN, Aadhaar, National Population Registry, driving licence, passport, voter ID, ration card.
Please note that only one e-Passbook is allowed per one registration against your mobile number. If you have closed / inoperative EPF accounts, you will not be able to generate EPF e-passbooks.
