Good news for Reliance Jio customers!
Reliance Jio announced today that it has extended the validity of its ‘Welcome Offer’ up to March 31, 2017.
This means that you will be able to use the 4G network and data for free for another four months, if you count the month of December.
However, the company has set a new FUP limit of 1GB on data usage after which the internet speed will be reduced to 128Kbps. The company has renamed the offer to ‘Happy New Year’.
Reliance Industries Limited’s chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani said this while addressing employees and shareholders of the group.
“Jio has become the fastest-growing technology company in the world,” he said.
Reliance Jio’s 4G-only service’s biggest USP is the free voice calling being offered by the company across the country. Earlier this week, the company claimed that it has crossed 50 million subscriber base since its launch in early September, ramping up the number in 83 days.
Ambani said on an average, a Jio customer is using 25 times more data than the average Indian broadband user.
Hitting out at rivals, Mukesh said that in the last three months nearly 900 crore voice calls from Jio to networks of its three largest competitors (Airtel, Vodafone and Idea) were blocked. However, he claimed that in the past few weeks the call block rate has come down from over 90% to nearly 20% (as of yesterday).
